I have started a community rain barrel project that will supply a variety of sizes, shapes, colours of rain barrels & tanks at a HUGE discount to residents of Edmonton city wide. This should come as no surprise, given my posts about water savings here on taps and here on lawns.
I have arranged for special pricing and availability through a wonderful local producer Polyrama Plastics, after negotiating with several competing manufacturers around the region.
EPCOR runs a rain barrel sale every year in May (2 years running) and sold OUT this year in two hours. They sold TWO THOUSAND barrels.
This project is developing but essentially, anyone will be able to pre-purchase a tank that suits their needs and style through their community league (whether a member or not) and pick it up when it arrives. Each league will determine their involvement and how often they want to run orders.
Check these tanks out (stand sold separately):
To get involved, to involve your league, to help me publicize, or to buy a tank and get in on it early as part of the pilot project please email me at adhdcanuck@gmail.com thanks!
This initiative is relatively low maintenance and it is very encouraging to see people like Polyrama supporting these efforts. You can ELIMINATE your city water use for watering and cleaning outside including the lawn. Rain water is far better for your plants, and these products are fully featured, they come with taps, screens to keep mosquitoes from breeding, overflows to connect multiple tanks, and are made of great material to resist heat/cold very well!
Stay tuned for more!

I need repairs for my 25 gallon water tank. The bottom bung is cracked. Can I buy repairs? Where? Also need directions on how.
assuming you meant 250gallon not 25…
Polyrama plastics can do repairs, or I think they sell a replacement bung, you just cut the old one out, and press fit the new one over the hole from both inside and outside and tighten it up.
Not exactly sure…
If you do indeed mean 25gallon, then chuck it out and get a bigger new tank
How much do the rain barrels cost? In my experience, you’ll lose a lot of inquiries because people want to know the answer to “how much will this cost me”.
Good luck on your proposal.
absolutely! Was still getting the costs arranged.
they will be added to an updated post shortly.
the basic 45 gallon black rainbarrel ended up being only 59 bucks!
